Mrs Swift:            Size sixteen.

Shop assistant:    Here’s a nice one.

Mrs Swift:            Is it wool?

Shop assistant:    Yes, pure wool. It looks smart. It’s the latest fashion.

Mrs Swift:            How much is it?

Shop assistant:    Thirty pounds.

Mrs Swift:            Alright, I’ll take it.

Dialogue 2

Shop assistant:    Are you being attended to?

Miss Swan:          No. I´m trying to find a navy blue raincoat, size 42.

Shop assistant:    I can do the size, but not the colour.

Miss Swan:          Do you think you could get one for me?

Shop assistant:    Yes, of course. Look in again Monday week.  

Work in pairs

     trousers) for yourself and a sweater for your husband.

Student B  You are a shop assistant in a clothes shop. Offer your customer various socks, trousers,

                 skirts and sweaters. Show him/her different materials, colours and  patterns.

                 would attract the customers to do their Christmas shopping in your department store. Talk

     about the prices, the wide range of products you offer etc.

Student B  You are the director of the second largest department store in the city. Try to convince the

     customers to come and do their Christmas shopping in your department store.
